Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton appear likely to win in Connecticut next week, just as they won easily in New York Tuesdsay night.
Nearly half of Republican primary voters, 48 percent, back Trump, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday. His next closest competitor is Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 28 percent, while 19 percent support Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Though only 5 percent of those surveyed are undecided, 25 percent of those who name a candidate say they might change their mind before the April 26 primary.
By a margin of 59 percent to 33 percent, Connecticut Republicans want an outsider for president, rather than an experienced politician. Among those who want an outsider, 75 percent back Trump.
Significant portions of Republican primary voting men (51 percent) and women (45 percent) pick Trump, too. The billionaire businessman also leads his rivals among Tea Party members, white born-again Evangelical Christians, very conservative and somewhat conservative voters and moderate/liberal Republicans.
On the Democratic side, Clinton leads Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, 51 percent to 42 percent, and 6 percent are undecided. Only two-in-10 of those Democratic primary voters who name a candidate say they might change their mind.
Though Sanders holds leads over Clinton in various demographics — 11 points among voters describing themselves as very liberal, for example — Clinton enjoys a 41-point lead with African American voters.
Likely female Democratic voters also back Clinton over Sanders, 55 percent to 38 percent. Men are more divided in Connecticut, with 50 percent for Sanders and 45 percent for Clinton.
The telephone survey was conducted April 12-18, polling 823 likely Republican primary voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points, and 1,037 likely Democratic primary voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
