Giuliani: ‘I would bet my life’ I could put Clinton in jail

CLEVELAND — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Florida delegates Wednesday morning that Hillary Clinton would undoubtedly “go to jail” if she faced him in court.

“I would bet my life, if you put me in front of 12 fair and decent Americans and you let me prosecute this case against Hillary Clinton, she would go to jail,” Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor, told the 99-member delegation.

The roomful of delegates roared, chanting what has become a familiar line at the convention: “Lock her up! Lock her up!”

Giuliani also said Republicans who continue to oppose GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump should no longer be put in the spotlight. Rather, Hillary Clinton should be the focus of every Republican between now and November, he said.

“It’s not about Jeb Bush, it’s not about his ego or whether he feels he was insulted … It’s not about Mitt Romney and whether he feels — I don’t know what Mitt feels,” Giuliani told delegates from the Sunshine State.

Bush and Romney both skipped this week’s convention and have declined to support Trump as their party’s nominee.

“The establishment of the Republican Party was against Donald Trump. Thank God, because the establishment of the Republican Party hasn’t done much better than the establishment of the Democratic Party,” Giuliani said.
