ConfirmSessions.com launched by conservative legal group

The right-leaning Judicial Crisis Network is launching a new campaign to support the confirmation of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions for U.S. attorney general.

The six-figure ad buy is aimed at the Washington, D.C., market. A 60-second advertisement features clips of President-elect Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz lauding Sessions, and a reporter noting Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s support of Sessions’ selection.

The video ad accompanies the launch of ConfirmSessions.com, a website set up by the Judicial Crisis Network to serve as a resource to combat criticism of the senator.

“From his time as U.S. Attorney to his tenure as Attorney General for the state of Alabama, Jeff Sessions successfully prosecuted drug and violent criminals, corrupt politicians, and white collar offenders, and his record shows an absolute commitment to equal justice under law by putting the people first – not powerful special interests,” said Carrie Severino, Judicial Crisis Network chief counsel, in a statement. “Americans who are interested in learning more about Senator Sessions and those covering the confirmation hearings can use ConfirmSessions.com as a one-stop resource for information on our next attorney general.”

The Judicial Crisis Network’s campaign serves to combat an onslaught of criticism from Trump and Sessions’ Democratic opponents ahead of next month’s confirmation proceedings. Sessions is a longtime Trump ally and his nomination angered liberals who are hostile to the Alabamian’s populist politics.
