3 guilty in cult death trial
The leader of a Baltimore cult and two followers were found guilty Tuesday of murder for starving a 1-year-old to death because they believed he possessed an “evil spirit” and did not say “Amen” after a prayer.
Queen Antoinette, 41, her daughter, Trevia Williams, 22, and Marcus A. Cobbs, 23, were convicted of second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of Javon Thompson. Javon was 15 months old.

The defendants face up to 60 years in prison.
Man fatally struck in D.C.
A man was struck and killed by a Mack truck in Northeast Washington early Tuesday. Police said the truck was traveling southbound on the 1800 block of Ninth Street NE around 4:30 a.m. when a man walked into the street, police said. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk area.
Va. police join Facebook
The Virginia State Police is hoping people who become fans of its new page on Facebook will help the agency solve crimes and find missing people and fugitives. In addition to news releases and traffic safety tips, the Facebook page provides information about unsolved cases. The 1996 abduction and slaying of Alicia Showalter Reynolds, 25, in Culpeper County is the first unsolved case to be featured.
Police seek hit-and-run driver
Fairfax County police are looking for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash. The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Feb. 24 on Leesburg Pike at the Capital Beltway. Detectives believe the vehicle was a beige or silver four-door Honda Accord EX. The car should be missing its front bumper. Anyone with information can call Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS.
