The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee asked supporters for $1 million Tuesday night just seconds after Donald Trump secured the Republican nomination.
The DCCC blasted out a fundraising email saying wealthy Democrats would match all contributions, as long as $1 million is collected in the next few days.
“He’s never been closer to the White House than he is right now. We can’t let this happen,” the pitch stated. “A group of all-star Democrats has agreed to match all gifts, but only if we hit $1,000,000 during the GOP convention!”
The House Democrats’ fundraising arm typically asks donors to help them meet its $50,000 or $100,000 goal. But Tuesday was a special occasion, pushing the organization to make one of its largest asks of supporters.
