House Speaker Paul Ryan argued Thursday night that President Trump’s decision to launch a military strike against Syria was “appropriate and just.”

In a statement, the Wisconsin Republican said that Syrian President Bashar Assad can “no longer count on American inaction” moving forward after Trump issued the strike. He also hinted that the president should consult Congress on further action in the region.
