Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was carried away by police on Tuesday during a protest in Germany.
Thunberg was protesting at the open-cast coal mine of Garzweiler 2 in the German village of Luetzerath. About 300 activists were reported to be demonstrating and preventing work toward the expansion of the mine. In order to expand, the village of Luetzerath is set to be demolished.

“Greta Thunberg was part of a group of activists who rushed towards the ledge. However, she was then stopped and carried by us with this group out of the immediate danger area to establish their identity,” Aachen police reportedly said in a statement.
The 20-year-old activist is said to have joined demonstrators beginning on Friday.
She can be seen getting carried out by police in video footage from the scene.

Thunberg was reportedly seen later seated alone on a large police bus.
Police reported that one activist actually jumped into the mine. It’s unclear whether the demonstrator was injured.
