Eight members of the violent Bloods street gang were indicted Friday on charges of savagely beating and raping a pregnant member for fear that she might tell police about their criminal enterprise, according to court documents.
The eight were charged on 18 counts, including racketeering, kidnapping, assault with a knife and first-degree sexual abuse.
The indictment, unsealed late Friday, described the brutal nature of the Los Angeles-based street gang that has crept into Maryland and has recently infiltrated the streets of District of Columbia.
Those charged claimed allegiance to a gang “set” known as 662 Boss Piru, or the Legion of Doom, and have annointed themselves with aliases like Angel of Death, Bloody Sniper and Little Psycho, documents said.
On June 8, gang member Albert “Hellmary” Price met his former girlfriend at the corner of the 4600 block of East Capitol Street Souteast and forced her into a dark-colored SUV that contained several other gangbangers, including the head of the female members, Marisa “Lady 151” Gibson, court papers said.
They drove the victim to an abandoned apartment building at 4945 Astor Place Souteast and orderd her to strip. Price, 31, the father of the victim’s unborn child, gave the signal for the mob to punch and kick the woman. She fell to the ground and the gang continued to assault her, but they stopped when police showed up outside the building to check on a report of unlawful entry.
Police found the girl and several gang members. They arrested the driver of the SUV on a warrant and released the others. The victim, who had suffered injuries to her head, face and arms, did not tell the officers what was going on because she was scared, police said.
Without a ride and without any money, the gang took the victim to a secluded alley in the 4500 block of Grant Street Northeast, where they forced her to have group sex with four men for cash.
The woman was finally able to escape and ran to a Metro police officer who called for backup.
The victim is in a federal witness protection program and has helped law enforcement officials get a better picture of the underground organization, sources said.
The 662 Boss Piru has been operating out of D.C. since 2004, initiating young recruits into the gang by beating or burning them for 31 seconds. The D.C. Bloods wear gang colors — red, white, black, green and brown — at all times.
Members are expected to pay monthly dues and meet to discuss ways to generate money for the gang, usually by drug sales, robberies and promoting prostitution, the charging documents said.
