Infamous D.C. mansion hits market at hefty price

The Washington, D.C., mansion where four people were killed in May is for sale, but don’t expect a discount because of its history.

The “as-is” 16,281-square foot house in the Woodley Park neighborhood hit the market Sunday at $3.25 million, according to Remax.

The property received much attention this year after four people were discovered brutally murdered inside.

On May 14, emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at the house. Law enforcement discovered the bodies of Savvas Savopoulos, 46, his wife Amy Savopoulos, 47, their 10-year-old son, Philip, and housekeeper, Veralicia Figueroa, 57.

Detectives quickly learned the reality behind the family and housekeeper’s staged deaths.

The four had been held under a $40,000 ransom before each was killed and the house was torched.

Daron Wint has been charged with one count of murder. D.C. Metro Police are still investigating the homicides.
