Democrats want a lockdown, not an economic rebound

Democrats and virtually every journalist in the Washington media are fond of saying things like Nobody wants the shutdown to last forever and Everybody wants the economy to go back to what it was. But just as when they insist that Everyone believes in securing the Southern border, there’s no real indication that they’re being honest.

These people are not reluctant truth-tellers. They’re lockdown advocates.

A Politico story on Tuesday said that last month, a senior economist in the Obama administration told a bipartisan group of current and former government officials that the economy might very well sharply rebound once restrictions are lifted and the public returns to regular business.

On that prediction, an anonymous former Obama White House official said, “This is my big worry.” He added, “This is the challenge for the Biden campaign. If they can’t figure this out, they should all just go home.”

Democrats don’t want to see the economy start booming again in an election year, so they keep setting unrealistic goals for resuming commerce, and then they move the goal post. They said we couldn’t do anything until we “flatten the curve.” We did, so then they said we couldn’t do anything until every single man, woman, and child could get a test. That’s the case in most places now, so they say we couldn’t do anything until every person could be traced for possible infection. Then they said we couldn’t do anything until there was a vaccine (which is predicted not to arrive until next year, if at all, well after the election).

And all we’ve heard about for the last two months is our inevitable “new normal,” wherein there will be no such thing as making new friends at a small bar and we’ll all be stuck in these muggy masks.

And then, the second we elect Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams, the national media will instantly forget about the “new normal” we were told to expect.

Democrats are afraid of an economic rebound. They’re lockdown advocates.
