This week’s Liberal Media Scream features a CNN host suggesting a presidential challenge by former Trump ally turned enemy Anthony Scaramucci.
On Monday’s New Day on CNN, co-host Alisyn Camerota asked Scaramucci if he’s considering making a run against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination.
She pleaded with Scaramucci to name who could take on Trump: “Like who? Give me some names.” When he declined to offer any names, she wondered:
“So Anthony, when you say that you’re compiling a team of people who are like-minded, are you considering a run?”
Scaramucci declined, making a joke about “running for re-election in my marriage.”
Camerota set up the 12-minute interview in the 7 a.m. hour: “Could we see someone new within the GOP somehow force President Trump off the ticket in 2020 or might he leave of his own accord? At least one big name Republican says some inside the Trump administration have had enough.”
Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our weekly pick: “The wackiest urging, on the cable channel, for a guest to run for president since CNN host Brian Stelter told Michael Avenatti, ‘I’m taking you seriously as a contender.’ Camerota showed CNN’s desperation to replace Trump, seeing anyone as better than him. Her thinking will surely soon look just as embarrassing as Stelter’s, even to the most angry anti-Trump viewers.”
Rating: Three out of five screams.
