White House: Clinton IG report ‘reaffirmed’ Trump’s suspicions

President Trump felt vindicated after reviewing the contents of an inspector general report released Thursday on the handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters.

“The president was briefed on the the IG report earlier today and it reaffirmed the president’s suspicion about [then-FBI Director James] Comey’s conduct and the political bias among some of the members of the FBI,” Sanders said.

The 568-page report by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog found that Comey deviated from normal procedures during the course of his investigation into Clinton’s handling of classified information.

Additionally, the report included a previously undisclosed text sent by former FBI agent Peter Strzok in which he told a colleague with whom he was romantically involved that the agency would “stop” Trump from becoming president.

Sanders told reporters on Thursday that Trump believes Strzok, who remains employed at the agency, should no longer have a job.
