Conservative movement blogger David Weigel for the Washington Post was spotted dancing by himself to swing music and 1980s jams at Megan McArdle and Peter Suderman’s wedding reception last weekend. It was a journo wedding, McArdle is the business and economics editor at The Atlantic and Suderman is an associate editor at Reason Magazine.
Weigel is under fire for calling North Carolina Democrat Rep. Bob Ethridge’s assault on a student with a video camera last weekend “a hug.”
After the WaPo blogger was seen challenging the 4-year-old ring bearer in a dance-off, an attendee asked him about his wild and crazy dancing style, to which he responded, “Well, it’s a safe space.”
Weigel told Yeas & Nays he danced alone because his girlfriend wasn’t there, she lives in Alaska.
“A few friends of the XX [female] persuasion were kind enough to look past my flop sweat and dance with me, eventually,” Weigel said. “Anyway, I blame the music. It’s physically impossible to remain still when ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’ is playing.”
