The Air Force announced Friday night that maintenance errors by three airmen incapacitated a nuclear-armed missile in its launch facility.
The May 17, 2014 incident cost the three individuals their nuclear certification and opened an investigation into the accident.
Air Force officials released the full results of that investigation to the press Friday. The military branch said the northeastern Colorado accident did not put the public’s safety at risk, according to a report.
The Air Force did not provide additional information, and only revealed what happened after questions from the press.
