First lady Melania Trump on Sunday appealed to Americans to donate time and money this holiday season in order to alleviate some of the devastation experienced by those who continue to grapple with the impact of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
“The effects of the hurricane season are still being felt & residents still need our help. As Christmas & the New Year approach, I encourage people to lend time volunteering or providing financial support to those still in need,” Trump wrote on Twitter to accompany a video of her recent trip to Texas with second lady Karen Pence.
The pair travelled to Corpus Christi, Texas, on Wednesday to meet with first responders who assisted during the initial Hurricane Harvey recovery effort, as well as with a family whose home was destroyed in the natural disaster in August.
They also visited an elementary school and a food bank.
Trump last flew to Texas in September with husband President Trump to survey the damage caused by the costliest tropical cyclone on record.
