Police: Suspects in Reston shooting fled U.S.

Three people have been charged in connection with a fatal Reston shooting, but authorities say they believe the suspects have fled to Latin America. Fairfax County police said 31-year-old Jose Santos Ponce Zuniga is charged with murder in the Dec. 12 killing of 34-year-old Colvin Morris. Morris, of Hybla Valley, was found slain on the 1500 block of Cameron Crescent Drive at about 4:15 p.m. Two other men, 29-year-old Amilcar Noel Urbina Zelaya and 45-year-old Saul Pacheco Mejia, have been charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Investigators say they believe the shooting was drug-related.

“We are very confident that this is a failed illegal drug transaction,” said Officer Bud Walker, a Fairfax police spokesman. Walker said it’s unknown where exactly in Latin America they might be or whether they are traveling together.
