More additions are on the way for D.C. United

D.C. United continued its busy week of adding players by re-signing forward Jaime Moreno and drafting three more former college players. The trend appears far from finished before the team begins the 2008 preseason next week.

Moreno, Major League Soccer’s all-time leading scorer with 112 career goals, returns after inking what United general manager Dave Kasper said last week was a multi-year deal at a compromise salary likely less that the $275,000 he earned last season.

United also added UCLA defender Brandon Owens, West Virginia midfielder Dan Stratford and Franklin Pierce goalkeeper James Thorpe via Thursday’s MLS supplemental draft.

Meanwhile, reports out of South America and France have linked D.C. with another Argentinian, 32-year-old midfielder Marcelo Gallardo, a veteran of Argentinian first division power River Plate and French first division club Paris St. Germain.
