There is actually some good news in the world!
A chain of almost 400 people “paid it forward” at a St. Petersburg, Fla. Starbucks location Wednesday.
The chain began around 7 a.m. Wednesday with a woman who decided to buy her iced coffee and a stranger’s caramel macchiato, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
The macchiato drinker decided to return the favor for the next person in line and then it really took off. By 1:30 p.m., it was up to 260 customers.
Customers told the Tampa Bay Times that the random act of kindness connected them to others, while others admitted that they just didn’t want to be the ones to end it.
The Starbucks baristas had made a plan if the “pay it forward” chain lasted until closing, but at 6 p.m., the 379th customer dashed those hopes.
“The woman declined, saying she just wanted to pay for her $2.25 drink and not someone else’s,” the Times wrote.
