Hypocrites in Hollywood donned pro-gun control bracelets on the Red Carpet at Sunday’s Academy Awards but enjoyed armed security guards.
People reported that actors like Patricia Arquette, Steve Carell, and Bryan Cranston wore the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence’s bracelet with the word “enough” written across the piece of jewelry.
“This awards season, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is teaming up with Hollywood to lift up the stories of the 90 Americans killed every day by gun violence,” The Brady Campaign said in a press release. “On the red carpet, high-profile celebrities … will join the effort to shed light on the human cost of gun violence by wearing unique, hand-crafted bracelets that commemorate Americans killed or injured by gun violence.”
Despite the actors standing on their ivory tower on gun control, they were well protected by some of the toughest armed security in the award show’s history.
According to Deadline, the Academy bulked up on security after fears that they’re could be another attack like in San Bernadino or Paris.
Hundreds of law enforcement agents including SWAT teams and bomb sniffing dogs were on the red carpet and around the venue to protect the anti-gun celebrities.
“Following any terrorist attack — and you have to remember that this is the biggest televised event in the world — it will be like a military state,” said one security expert to Deadline.
It’s easy to standup against individual gun ownership when you have a small military to protect you.
