Ben Carson sure looks like he’s setting the stage for a 2016 Republican presidential candidacy.
Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon and conservative favorite who has never held political office, will air a nearly 40-minute-long ad introducing himself to the country, according to the Washington Times.
Titled “A Breath of Fresh Air: A New Prescription for America,” the documentary will air in 22 states and Washington, D.C. The documentary will cover the timeline of his life: from being a child in Detroit, to a famous surgeon to potential 2016 presidential candidate.
A Carson aide told ABC News on Thursday that Carson is “starting to think about” running for president in 2016.
In September, Carson discussed the possibility of a 2016 candidacy on the Hugh Hewitt Show.
“Unless the American people indicate in November that they like Big Government intervention in every part of their lives,” Carson said, “I think the likelihood is strong.”
There is also a grassroots effort pushing him to run, aptly named National Draft Ben Carson for President.
An October ABC News/Washington Post poll of the potential 2016 Republican candidates placed Carson seventh, behind the likes of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Following the report of the documentary-like ad, Fox News cut ties with Carson, who was a contributor, a Fox News spokeswoman told the Washington Post.
The Fox News spokeswoman said Carson understood the reasoning for the termination and that it was amicable.
In the 2012 election cycle, Fox News also cut Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as contributors, who were making moves toward presidential bids.
