The social media campaign #ShoutYourAbortion is back in the news again this week due to a new book and video. To progressives, the campaign was always a strange effort to normalize a procedure which is abnormal — to shine a spotlight on a procedure for which the end result is always death. Despite an outcry from the pro-life movement, the campaign has continued, though it has sputtered somewhat.
In a new video, produced by “HiHo kids,” which features all kinds of videos of kids confronting progressive values, a group of children who seem to be between fifth and eighth grade meet Amelia Bonow. Bonow has had an abortion and written a #ShoutYourAbortion children’s book about it. The entire video is an uncomfortable venture into what the progressive indoctrination of children looks like.
Without nuance or sensitivity, Bonow casually asks kids their views on abortion as if they were simply being asked how their school day went. While Bonow begins by asking the kids questions, she immediately expresses her very pro-choice views in every conversation. She describes it to one child — keep in mind these are kids between the ages of 10-14 — as just “a crappy dentist appointment … it was a body thing that was really uncomfortable.”
One boy seemed somewhat sensitive to the idea of abortion. He had a more nuanced, healthy perspective than Bonow, though he didn’t exactly say he was completely pro-life. Part of Bonow’s conversation with him went like this:
Boy: “No.”
Amelia: “What should we do with them?”
Boy: “Put them up for adoption.”
Of course, Bonow had no problem telling him she disagreed with his generally pro-life views, and she even twisted it further by telling the child who said he believed in God that abortion “is all a part of God’s plan.”
It’s one thing to record videos with kids about progressive topics (this is expected now, sadly), but the Herculean effort to indoctrinate them toward that particular view is appalling, particularly for children so young and moldable. Progressives have become so numb to the disastrous effects of abortion, and so obsessed with walking the line of one of their most sacrosanct issues, they don’t care about the awful effects that normalizing abortion will have on the next generation.
