A Montgomery County elementary school teacher accused of choking her students denied the allegations in court Thursday.
Susan L. Burke was testifying in her trial on assault charges in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
When school administrators informed her January that several of her first-grade students said Burke, 36, had choked them, Burke said it wasn’t true.
“I denied it,” she said on the witness stand.
Burke’s attorney sought to portray her as a dedicated educator who worked to teach her students at Greecastle Elementary School appropriate behaviors. She testified that she served on a school committee that aimed to increase positive behaviors.
