“The View” co-host Ana Navarro, a Republican, questioned the motives of some Democrats running for president as the 2020 field continues to expand.
Navarro suggested some Democrats who don’t have a viable chance of winning the nomination appear to be auditioning for a cable news gig or angling for a book deal.
“You know, though, at some point they’ve got to get serious about it,” she said Friday. “Running for president shouldn’t be about getting a cable gig or selling a book or ending up on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’”
President Trump’s Energy Secretary Rick Perry was a contestant on the dance show after ending his 2016 presidential run.
“It’s a serious thing,” Navarro said. “Right now, you know, I want a Democrat that can beat Donald Trump, and it’s beginning to look like a clown car.”
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio became the 23rd Democrat to enter the 2020 race Thursday.
