‘One week after Biden called for unity’: Twitter erupts over Biden not yet condemning violence on Trump supporters

Politicians and media figures hammered Joe Biden for not condemning the violence seen on the streets of Washington, D.C., against supporters of President Trump this weekend.

“When is Joe Biden, Mr. Unity, going to condemn this violence,” Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley tweeted in response to a video of antifa and Black Lives Matter counterprotesters attacking Trump supporters.

The media declared Biden the victor of the 2020 presidential election last weekend, with Biden vowing to unify the country.

“I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify,” Biden said in his victory speech. “Who doesn’t see red and blue states, but a United States. And who will work with all my heart to win the confidence of the whole people.”

Others joined Hawley in asking where Biden’s condemnation of the violence was in light of his comments promising unity.

Biden’s transition team did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment regarding the violence.

At least one person was stabbed in Washington on Saturday after counterprotesters descended during the “Million MAGA March.” Police arrested at least 20 people for simple assault, assault on a police officer, and firearms violations, among other acts.

One viral video from the city reportedly shows Black Lives Matter protesters attacking Trump supporters.

“BREAKING – Multiple Trump supporters assaulted by pro-BLM supporters in Washington D.C,” the Daily Caller’s Jorge Ventura posted on Twitter Saturday evening. “One of the supporters assaulted was brutally knocked out. The scene is chaotic right now.”

Another viral video shows a man wearing a pro-Trump shirt being shoved to the ground by counterprotesters at D.C.’s Black Lives Matter Plaza.
