Shanghai shares dropped more than 7 percent, causing China to suspend trading for the rest of the day.
The trouble in Asian markets may be felt on Wall Street Thursday morning, which also hit a three-month low before closing Wednesday.
Other international issues, like North Korea’s hydrogen bomb test and Iran’s second missile test, may impact the trading climate.
