The former Republican congressman from Pennsylvania today moved one step closer to another primary challenge of Sen. Arlen Specter. The pro-capitalist Club for Growth announced that Toomey, who has led the group for more than four years, was stepping down as president. Toomey hasn’t announced a run against Specter, but has said it’s likely he will do so. Specter is already running ads across the state attacking Toomey for having worked on Wall Street early in his career. Former Republican congressman from Indiana Chris Chocola will take over at the Club for Growth.
