What will be able to stop “The Hunger Games?”
The movie based on the young adult novel of the same name topped the box office for the fourth straight week this weekend, bringing in $21.5 million. That brings the film’s total gross to $337 million in Nortrh America. The last film to be number one for this long was “Avatar,” which eventually sat atop the box office for seven weeks.
There are just two more weekends until “Marvel’s The Avengers” comes out, unofficially annoucing the beginning of the summer movie season. That will be followed by Johnny Depp’s “Dark Shadows” the following week and Sacha Baron Cohen’s “The Dictator” and “Battleship” a week later. Those films might prevent “Games” for matching “Avatar’s” seven-week run.
