“Saturday Night Live” went behind the scenes of Pepsi’s controversial ad featuring Kendall Jenner in this weekend’s episode.
The ad’s director, played by Beck Bennett, describes the concept to his sister but she appears to have doubts about his idea.
“I think you just don’t get it,” he tells her. “The whole thing is kind of an homage to the resistance.”
When he’s told the ad may be “tone deaf,” Bennett asks to speak to a black neighbor.
The sketch also features Cecily Strong as Jenner.
“I stop the police from shooting people by handing them a Pepsi? I know, it’s cute, right?” Jenner says while on the phone with her sister Khloe Kardashian.
Pepsi pulled its ad last week after accusations that it co-opted the Black Lives Matter movement and undermined the struggles of minorities.
