Teacher snatches gun from boy

A 12-year-old boy brought an unloaded handgun to school Monday and pointed it at his head before a teacher took it away, Prince William County police said. The Potomac Middle School student showed the gun to other students at the bus stop, hopped on the bus, and when he got off the bus, pulled the gun out and pointed it at his head. Police say the boy will be charged with possession of a weapon on school property.

5 taken to hospital after school bus crash

Five people, including two children, were taken to a hospital after a crash involving a D.C. school bus and three other vehicles in Northwest Washington. The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. Monday on the 4800 block of Connecticut Avenue. D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said five people, including two children believed to be about 8 or 9 years old, were taken to hospitals for cautionary checkups, Piringer said.

Teen held in shooting over bracelet

A D.C. teenager accused of a killing a man over costume jewelry was ordered held behind bars Monday. Sanquan Carter, 19, was supposed to have been in the custody of the District’s juvenile justice agency, police said, when he allegedly killed Jordan Howe. The shooting on March 22 set off a spiral of violence and the deaths of four other young people.

Police: Girl, 6, sexually assaulted

A McLean man was charged with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a Manassas clothing store. Police said a man approached the girl while she was reading a book in the kid’s clothing section of the Burlington Coat Factory on Saturday. He wrapped his arms around her and inappropriately touched her, police said. The girl’s father saw the incident, police said. Leonard St. Hilaire, 44, was charged with aggravated sexual battery.
