Redskins corner Hall critical of own play

Redskins corner says he deserves to be cut The play started off fine for him, just as the one in September did. Then Dez Bryant made a cut, DeAngelo Hall stumbled and another key third down was converted on Hall.

Three plays later, Dallas celebrated another win over Washington.

It made for a difficult postgame for the Redskins corner.

“I can’t slip. I’m the reason we lost the game,” Hall said. “It’s frustrating. It’s tough to swallow. Second time in a row to Dallas; definitely a little [ticked off] at myself.”

And Hall made it clear what he would do if he were in charge.

“The way I’m playing now, they need to cut me,” Hall said. “I’m definitely not worth what I’m getting. It’s frustrating. Hopefully they see something in me and they bring me back next year. The way things are going right now, I’m definitely not playing up to par.”

In some ways Hall has been a better player than a year ago when he intercepted six passes en route to a Pro Bowl berth. But he has just one pick and has now been beaten twice in crucial times vs. Dallas.

In the 18-16 loss in September, Hall was victimized on a third-and-21 pass to Bryant off a broken play — that Hall initially had well-defended. That eventually led to the game-winning points.

As on that play in September, the Redskins initially showed an eight-man rush. But two defenders dropped and a third spied quarterback Tony Romo. And unlike September, Hall had more help on the play. This time, safety Oshiomogho Atogwe doubled Bryant, playing him inside. But Bryant started in and cut back out.

“A great decision by him,” Romo said.

Hall then slipped breaking on the ball.

“I played it good, a great play by Romo and a great play by the receiver,” Hall said. “But I can’t come in here every week and tell you all the same damn thing. I can’t keep saying that. It was a great play but it wasn’t that amazing of a play. It’s a play in practice I make and have made before. If I’m evaluating stuff from the front office I might be the first one to run myself out.”
