Lindsey Graham: Washington needs to drink more

Sen. Lindsey Graham has a solution to getting things done in Washington, D.C., once again: drinking more alcohol.

When answering a question from conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt about positive things he’s said about Hillary Clinton, Graham argued that it is possible for Republicans to say nice things about Democrats. He pointed to former President Ronald Reagan and former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill as a prime example.

“Ronald Reagan did a couple of really big things that we should all remember. He sat in with Tip O’Neill — the most liberal guy in the entire House,” Graham said. “They started drinking together.”

“That’s the first thing thing I’m going to do as president — we’re going to drink more,” Graham said to laughter in the audience. “They found a way to save Social Security from bankruptcy by adjusting the age of retirement from 65 to 67.”

“So yes, I will say nice things at times about Democrats,” the South Carolina senator said. “Yes, I will work with them. I will put the country ahead of party. Absolutely, I’m want to work with them.”

Graham is ranked 15th according the latest Washington Examiner’s pre-debate power rankings.
