A man went on a rampage through a normally quiet part of Annapolis, smashing a church door, dragging a man out of bed and trying to pull a woman?s pants down, police said.
“He would have definitely continued on his crime spree as long as he was able to get away with it,” saidOfficer Sara Schriver, a spokeswoman for the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Donnell Jerome Pack, 22, of Forest Beach Road in Annapolis, racked up three counts of burglary, two counts of assault, and one charge each of robbery, attempted rape, attempted sex offense and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said. They declined to say which substance he is charged with possessing.
The crime spree wound through a waterfront area of Annapolis early Wednesday.
In one of the offenses, the suspect pulled a screen window off the caretaker?s building at Christian City Church on East College Parkway, where resident Chris Conde was sleeping.
He “yanked [Conde] up off the bed and became violent, demanding crack,” said Rev. Michael J. Berry.
Conde and his brother, who was also sleeping there, were able to lock themselves in a room and call police, Berry said.
Police responded to the scene, and also matched Pack?s boots to prints on the Christian City Church?s glass door, which was smashed. Damage could run as much as $1,000, Rev. Berry said.
The rampage continued at the Quality Inn Hotel on Whitehall Road, where he jumped over the counter, demanded money, tried to pull a 23-year old female clerk?s pants down and then punched her in the face.
The suspect took money out of the register before he was chased out of the hotel by a manager.
Pack is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis without bond.
