House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Sunday night that she continues to be on the fence of officially endorsing any of the Democratic candidates for president.
“I have not endorsed yet,” Pelosi said during NBC’s Chuck Todd during an interview ahead of tonight’s Democratic debate in South Carolina. She said “all of them expand the pie …, everyone of them is important.”
“Very excited about all the candidates,” she said. “Everyone of their supporters is important to electing a Democratic president.”
When asked how important would it be to have a first woman president, Pelosi responded that it would be very exciting but she is supportive of all the candidates. She was careful not to appear too supportive of Hillary Clinton.
Nevertheless, Pelosi said being the first woman would be important “because we believe when women succeed, America succeeds.” Pelosi said she broke “the marble ceiling” when she became the first female speaker of the House.
