SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A group of about 15 mothers and their babies gathered outside a Salt Lake City water park to protest its policy against breastfeeding.
Saturday’s protest was organized by Katie Buhler, a mother of three who said she was told to stop breastfeeding her 7-month-old child by a female lifeguard at Seven Peaks Waterpark.
Buhler told KTVX-TV (http://bit.ly/KTMm6Y ) that she did not expose her breast, but instead discreetly nursed her child under a blanket.
She says a manager later told her that her options were either to leave the park or breastfeed her baby in a restroom because of the park’s desire to maintain a “family-friendly environment.”
Seven Peaks managers did not immediately return a phone call Sunday.
