Republican frontrunner Donald Trump appeared on Fox and Friends Monday and reacted to the news that U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl might not serve prison time for abandoning his post in Afghanistan.
“In the old days when we were strong and smart and had a country that was respected all over the world, you would execute a person like that,” Trump said. “He’s a traitor.”
The billionaire expressed outrage that Staff Sergeants Clayton Bowen, Michael Murphrey, and Kurt Curtiss, 2nd Lieutenant Darryn Andrews, Private 1st Class Matthew Martinek, and Morris Walker all died looking for Bergdahl after he abandoned post in Afghanistan.
“Six people went out looking for him, trying to find him and they were killed, all killed,” Trump continued. “Young, beautiful people, they were killed looking for this guy and now not only will not be what they used to do, now he’s probably going to be let off scott free.”
“It’s inconceivable what’s going on with our country.”
