I always am a little intimidated when I am next to Christie Hefner. I am afraid she is going to look at whatever I am wearing and take me to the side of the room at the end and say, ‘Barry don’t you read the fashion articles in Playboy Magazine?’ Then I would have to be the very first man in the history of the world to say, no, I never read any of the articles, I only bought them for the pictures.”

So said Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, who appeared with Hefner, the CEO of Playboy, Tuesday to celebrate the retirement of ACLU president Nadine Strossen.

In a surprise to some, Strossen’s “verbal sparing partner” and friend, conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, also attended. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg assured the crowd that “all the justices are part of the Nadine fan club.”
