Democrats are hoping to protest the upcoming Senior PGA tournament at the Trump National Golf Club in northern Virginia, part of the “#Resistance” movement.
Virginia Democratic lieutenant governor candidate sent out information showing that she is Susan Platt is leading the charge and signing up protesters for the May 28 fight. “Looking for the next way to #resist? You found it! Join us, as we bring the fight to the Bully-In-Chief on his home turf!” says her webpage.
Those who respond receive this message: “What To Bring: Water, sunscreen, #TrumpResistance signs, comfortable shoes, maybe your best Biden aviators?”
The event was initiated by the Northern Virginia branch of the national resistance group Indivisible and said that they, not Platt, are leading the event. Here is their Facebook link to the “Please Go Away” protest.
An organizer told us, “it is important to clarify that we are not affiliated with the Platt campaign and Susan Platt is not leading the effort for the ‘Please Go Away Protest.’ We recognize there are multiple groups and individuals who oppose the conflicts of interest between the Trump Administration and the Trump Organization that the Senior PGA Tournament represents. We encourage any and all groups who want to join us in protesting Trump corruption to exercise their First Amendment Right to do so.”
Here is Platt’s note to supporters:
Great Falls, Virginia — Today, the Platt for Lieutenant Governor campaign announced that Susan Platt is organizing a major protest at Trump National Golf Club during the upcoming Senior PGA Championships. The protest will take place on public property next to Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia on Sunday, May 28 at 10AM.
The Platt campaign launched a website, trumpnationalprotest.com, with information about the protest. The website includes a gif of Trump golfing.
“Donald Trump’s biggest accomplishment thus far is galvanizing millions of Americans to resist his dangerous agenda,” said Platt, whose Fairfax County home is just a few miles from Trump National Golf Club. “Between his hateful Muslim ban, his tax cuts for the wealthy, Trumpcare, and his decision to fire the FBI Director, Trump’s presidency has been a disaster. Women and men are fighting back. We are going to send a message loud and clear: Donald Trump should take his dangerous agenda and get out of the Commonwealth.”
