Rev. Franklin Graham, the CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, called on people to remember “God loves us” amid so much violence and division in the world today.
Graham, the eldest son of the late Christian evangelist Billy Graham, gave an Easter message from Lviv, Ukraine, Sunday.
“Our world is becoming more violent. It’s becoming more secular, and many politicians and educators scoff at those that worship the Lord Jesus Christ. They make fun. They don’t believe,” Graham said. “May we never forget the true meaning of Easter, and that is the price that was paid for the redemption of your soul, and this price was paid by God. God loves us, and Easter is about God’s love for mankind.”
Graham noted that many people have lost hope in light of world violence, especially regarding Russia’s war on Ukraine, but said it can be found in the message of Easter.
“We can have that hope that we will be saved and forgiven and be with God for eternity in heaven. Jesus said, ‘I’m the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.’ How do we have eternal life? It’s not by works, but it’s by God’s grace,” Graham said. “This is Easter. It’s about a risen savior. It’s about an empty tomb.”
