Democrats’ 24-hour occupation of the House floor demanding for a vote on gun control legislation is over, but not before a series of several elected officials made fools of themselves.
Elected officials made claims that rights didn’t matter and that they were better than average citizens, and used hyperbole to claim they would fight on for days. None of it was true.

“Law abiding citizens just shouldn’t have to carry a gun,” said Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) but when asked about armed security in Washington D.C. he said Congress needed firearms. “Well, that’s a little different. I think we deserve… I think we need to protected down here.”

“We have to make sure people are vetted, we got to have background checks, and we have to make sure you aren’t on the no fly list. That’s two very simple principles,” said Rep. Maxine Waters (D- Cali.) who listed three goals, not two.
