1. FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT

Any time or place I can chat, meet and work to advocate for children. Working with PTA leaders here in Fairfax and throughout Virginia continues to be extremely gratifying to me.

2. BEST MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

My favorite mode is when someone drives me to my destination. Love to car pool to the various PTA and FCPS meetings … gives me time to talk through issues with special friends or trusted advisers.

3. FAVORITE LOCAL SPORTS EVENT

Watching a Capitals game especially during the finals rates number one with me. This year it was a real joy to watch the George Mason University Patriots battle it out on the court.

4. BEST PLACE FOR LIVE MUSIC

Fairfax County Public Schools have wonderful music programs.Such talented young adults.My special shout-out goes to the Lake Braddock Secondary School Band programs.Marching or concert, they always provide their audience with a great performance.

5. BEST PLACE FOR OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS

You can never go wrong with trips to Old Town Alexandria and the National Mall.

6. FAVORITE MUSEUM

I love Marjorie Merriweather Post’s Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens. This premier collection of Faberge eggs, Russian porcelain, Russian Orthodox icons, as well as French decorative art are impressive. The grounds in the spring and early summer are also beautiful.

7. MOST ROMANTIC SPOT

An evening cruise on the Potomac. Stars, moonlight, warm breezes; can’t get much better!

8. FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A LAZY SUNDAY

Taking in a Sunday matinee at the Kennedy Center or National Theatre. Spending time at the South Run dog park with the family; Buster and Buddy especially enjoy a special Sunday visit at the park!

9. FAVORITE RESTAURANT

You can never go wrong with Artie’s (brunch) or anytime at the Great American Restaurants.

10. BEST RETREAT OUTSIDE THE BELTWAY

Charlottesville and Afton Mountain are always great destinations.

An afternoon at the spa!

12. BEST PLACE FOR LATE-NIGHT EATS

Enjoying a classic Reuben and Irish Music at Auld Shebeen in downtown Fairfax.

Living where history surrounds you every day! Enjoying the unlimited access to historical and cultural activities, events and venues.

14. EMBARRASSING PART OF LIVING IN D.C. AREA

Hate to say it, but the Redskins; especially with the Steelers and Cowboy fans in my family.
