Baltimore Gas and Electric is testing and inspecting the natural gas transmission pipelines in the Long Reach area in Columbia.
The federal Department of Transportation?s Office of Pipeline Safety requires these tests.
The inspections may require one-inch holes in some paved areas and will be conducted using electronic survey equipment above ground along the pipeline path.
In mid to late summer, any excavations that are required will begin.
BGE will coordinate excavationswith affected customers and restore any excavated areas in accordance with local permitting requirements.
