Harris is a worldwide company focused on developing voice, data and video networks.
The energy efficient center is expected to be completed in 2014. It will house up to 1,400 employees in a work environment aimed at encouraging collaboration and innovation.
Brown said it also represents a commitment by Harris to be a long term presence in the region and play a key role in its economic development.
The tech center is a welcome boost to the area’s economy, which has been suffering from the shutdown of the space shuttle program.
