At least this ad wasn’t listed among the personals

Buried in the pages of the manual for NBA general managers (there is such a thing, right? And surely it’s a well-read document), there’s a tidy bit of warning: Don’t shop for free agents on Craigslist.

Yet, somehow, somewhere, a desperate summer buyer won’t be able to resist Joe Johnson, whose playoff nose-dive inspired one Atlanta Hawks fan to help facilitate his anticipated offseason move.

“Used NBA basketball player looking for a new home,” read an ad posted Tuesday on Craigslist. “Need to move ASAP!!!! $20,000,000 a year or $500,000 an hour. Decent worker from December to April………..WONT WORK OVERTIME!!!!”

The listing didn’t trumpet Johnson’s 20-plus points a game average over the last five seasons. Instead, it includes two pictures of him, one in front of a gas-guzzling super truck and the other napping, plus the added credentials: “Famous recent works — ‘could care less if fans show up or not.’”

GMs beware: You get what you overpay for.
