Chicken wings, beef on weck, Polish sausage and Genesee beer were on the menu Wednesday night on Capitol Hill as New York lawmakers celebrated Buffalo Night in the Dirksen Building.
On hand: former Buffalo Bills tight end Jay Riemersma, who’s running for Congress from Michigan, Luke Russert, Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and members of Congress, including Buffalo’s own Brian Higgins.
It was part of a big week for Riemersma, a Republican who hopes to take the 2nd District congressional seat — Riemersma held a fundraiser Tuesday night at the Monocle on Capitol Hill. One attendee said organizers expected about 30 people, but more than 50 turned up, including plenty of lobbyists from the banking and energy industries.
