MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) — A medical technician’s car was found, empty and near the woods, shortly after her family reported her missing, police said Monday as they appealed for the public’s help finding her.
Police were trying to trace Sarah P. Goode’s movements during the weekend as they tried to locate her.
Goode, a 21-year-old mother from Medford, watched a movie on TV with some close friends Friday night, Suffolk County Police Detective Sgt. Michael Fitzharris said. He declined to say when and how the group parted for the night.
An older sister of Goode’s called police around 9 p.m. Sunday, saying that the close-knit family hadn’t heard from her in two days and that that was unusual, Fitzharris said. About an hour later, police found Goode’s 1999 gray BMW parked near a wooded area around Medford.
“That troubled us,” Fitzharris said.
The car showed no signs of a crash or violence, he said.
A woman who answered a telephone number connected to Goode’s family declined to comment Monday.
Goode works at a medical facility in the area and is raising a 4-year-old daughter with her family’s help, Fitzharris said.
Goode is 5-foot-3, weighs 100 pounds and is white with a light complexion, long brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a flower on one foot, police said.
