Trump turns down offer throw first pitch at Nationals opener

President Trump has turned down an offer to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals’ opener against the Miami Marlins on Monday.

A White House official told the Washington Examiner the president has a scheduling conflict and therefore is unable to attend.

Earlier Tuesday, Politico reported that Trump was “in talks” to participate in the pre-game tradition, saying he might also spend an inning in the announcing booth with MASN.

Both Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush threw ceremonial first pitches at National Park. The tradition of presidential first pitches dates back to President William Taft in 1910.
