Donald Trump kicked off the Fox News primetime debate Thursday with a bang when he refused to pledge to support the Republican nominee if it’s not him.
Moderator Brett Baier asked if anyone on the debate stage would be unwilling to pledge your support and respect to the eventual Republican nominee and to not run third party.
Trump said he understood that it might cause the Republican to lose, but still was defiant.
“If I am the nominee, I will not run 3rd party,” Trump said with a smirk on his face.
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) hit him on this issue.
“This is what’s wrong with politics, he buys and sells politicians and he’s hedging his bet with the Clintons,” said Paul.
“I’ve given you plenty of money,” Trump hit back.
