Whoopi Goldberg told law professor Alan Dershowitz that he needed to be “respectful” after she cut him off for trying to answer another host’s question.
“According to what I’m reading, you’re the only constitutional scholar who goes with that line,” host Joy Behar said about him saying a president needed to commit a crime to be impeached. “There is not one other who agrees with you, not one.”
Dershowitz then attempted to respond to the statement before Goldberg repeatedly tried to cut him off.
“So, I’m moving you on, or I’m cutting you off. One or the other is going to happen,” the host told Trump’s impeachment defense attorney as the audience cheered. “I don’t want to make this contentious, but we only have several minutes.”
Dershowitz, 81, responded to Goldberg by saying, “Ah, haha.” “You’re laughing,” the host snapped back. “I’ve always been respectful to you, and you’ve always been respectful to me.”
“I’m very respectful,” the lawyer said before the hosts moved onto the next set of questions. Dershowitz appeared on the show to defend President Trump on impeachment. He argued that the trial was being held wrongfully because Democrats were not contending the president had committed any crime.
