Andrew Gillum, the defeated 2018 Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate, is joining CNN as a political commentator.
Gillum said in a tweet he was “thrilled” to announce his new job.

Gillum is the latest former politico to be snatched up by the cable news network as a talking head, including former Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who was termed out of the office in January. CNN has hired ex-Reps. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., and Mia Love, R-Utah. Gutierrez declined to seek re-election last year, while Love lost her disputed race last November to her Democratic challenger by fewer than 700 votes.
Gillum’s announcement came on the same day that former Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who retired from Congress in 2018, made public his decision to sign on with CBS News as a contributor.
Recently ousted Democratic Sens. Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota have also taken deals with NBC/MSNBC and CNBC respectively.
