WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Colonial Williamsburg is planning an opening ceremony for a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that will be put on display there.
Called The Wall that Heals, the 250-foot replica will be installed from Oct. 9-13 at the heritage tourism site.
Colonial Williamsburg says an opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 0 on the lawn of the Public Hospital and Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. A Marine color guard led by the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums will present the colors. A wreath will also be laid.
Like the original in Washington, the traveling half-scale replica contains the names of the 58,000 men and women who died in Vietnam. More than 2 million people have visited the exhibit since it went on the road in 1996.
